Description

Making Diversity & Inclusion a Reality in Design

There is a business case to be made about why Diversity & Inclusion matters; and also an opportunity to ensure that we as leaders create inclusive work environments so that everyone is able to contribute their best selves to work and community. Many women and underrepresented minorities (or people of color) have challenging experiences or feel excluded in work and life. This exclusion interferes with their ability to contribute fully and advance in key opportunities in work and life. You can read more about the business case for D&I and how we can build inclusive, healthy work environments in this issue from experts Dr. Shirley Davis and Ms. Patricia Pope.

At the 2018 DMII:Design Leadership Conference on Innovative Thinking in Diversity & Inclusion an effort was begun to develop a dmi:Diversity in Design Manifesto, to highlight key focus areas in which our global community can engage and share research, successes, and advancement opportunities. Read more about it in this issue and see how you too can become engaged. DMI will continuously highlight stories of success and advancement.
