Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

 

What Does the dmi: Design Value Award Application Contain?

 

The application is a simple questionnaire in English. The questions are in short sentence form.
The 5 questions are:

  • Applicant data (i.e. company name, team member title, etc.)
  • Your design value initiative and the objective of your initiative 
  • The value that was delivered in each of the following categories: (responses are limited to approximately 350 words)
    • Financial Value
    • Value to the Customer
    • Organizational Culture Change
    • Social Value (i.e. environmental impact, social inequality, hunger, health, and social justice.)
  • Two digital posters must be submitted
  • Contact information for references familiar with the initiative

 

What are the Application Fees?

  • Yes, there is an application fee for members of DMI and non-members:

    • $550.00USD - DMI Members
    • $750.00USD - Non-Members
  • Your fee is for one application only. Each additional application will be assessed a new fee.
  • Applications submitted after the deadline and before the late deadline will be assessed a $200 late fee.
  • There are no refunds for application fees.

Please note that one member of the winning organization(s) must also register to attend at least 1 full day of the dmi:Design Leadership Conference and must be present at the dmi:Design Value Awards ceremony in order to receive an Award.

 

Do I Have to Finish the Application All at Once?

  • No. You may save the unique URL link indicated in your application and return before the deadline to complete the form.

 

What are the Poster Specifications?

The posters of dmi:Design Value Award winners will be printed and displayed on tall vertical banners at the dmi:Design Leadership Conference in Boston and published as a two page spread in the dmi:Review magazine. Therefore DMI requires two posters with the following specifications:

  • Posters must be submitted in PDF format print quality resolution.
  • You must own the right to use all the photographs/images used in your poster submission.
  • The maximum uploadeable file size for each poster is 16MB. If larger please dropbox posters to webmaster@dmi.org.
  • The vertical poster must be in the aspect ratio 4:9 so that it may be printed as a tall vertical banner to be displayed at the dmi:Design Leadership Conference and Design Value Awards Ceremony.
  • The horizontal poster must follow these guidelines in order to be published as a two page spread in the dmi:Review Magazine. Please download the guidelines here (pdf).
  • Your posters must be uploaded digitally at the end of the form or sent via Dropbox or similar FTP to webmaster@dmi.org.

 

What is the Deadline for Submission?

  • The deadline is Thursday, June 28th, 2018 12:00 Noon EDT.
  • The late deadline is Tuesday, July 10th, 2018 12:00 Noon EDT. An additional late fee of $200 USD applies. 

Do I Have to Attend the dmi: Design Leadership Conference?

  • Yes. The winner or Award recipient must be present at the dmi:Design Value Awards ceremony in order to receive an Award.
    One member of the winning organization(s) must register to attend at least 1 full day of the dmi:Design Leadership Conference. Awards will not be shipped or mailed.
 

What are the Publishing and Usage Rights?

  • Please ensure that you are able to share the results of your initiative, particularly as it pertains to revenue and customer acquisition numbers.
  • All materials submitted to the 2018 dmi:Design Value Award program become the property of DMI.
  • DMI retains the right to utilize all entry materials for any and all future publications, this includes winners and non-winners.
