Design is not just what it looks like and feels like. Design is how it works.

Steve Jobs

The value of design is notoriously difficult to define, tough to measure, and hard to isolate as a function, making it challenging to support a business case for strategic investment in the design operation.

Recognizing the challenge, DMI developed a system of universal tools and frameworks called The Design Value System (DVS). It consists of the Design Value Index (DVI), the Design Value Map, and the Design Maturity Matrix.  The three tools combine to form a system that helps articulate the value of becoming a design-focused organization, maps where design adds value, and benchmarks the maturity of the design function.

This is a high-level overview seminar to familiarize design, business, and innovation leaders with the Design Value System.

Attendees will learn:

  • The metrics and best-in-class criteria behind the Design Value Index
  • How to apply the Design Value Map to pinpoint where design adds value across the entire organization.
  • How to use the Design Maturity Matrix to benchmark the maturity of the function and identify gaps.

Who should attend:

  • Design Leaders
  • Business Leaders
  • Innovation Leaders

The day includes light breakfast, lunch and breaks.
There will be facilitated opportunities for networking and peer interaction.
