Speaker Topics
Innovation with Purpose Kevin Dunckley, Chief Sustainability & Innovation Officer, HH Global
CEOs the world over are re-orienting their businesses from profit to purpose; re-envisioning the value they create in broader terms, be it social, economic or cultural. But how do organizations move to responsible business solutions,
and what is the day-to-day work that it takes to get done? Kevin Dunckley- Chief Sustainability & Innovation Officer at leading Marketing Execution business HH Global, will discuss business cases and the real work behind driving
purpose within an organization.
Kevin has a deeply committed practice helping the world's largest brands become more socially and environmentally responsible through sustainable innovation, process and product improvement, and developing ecosystems and collaborations
across the start up, NGO, and University environments. He was recently shortlisted for Digital Leader of the Year at the Information-Age Tech Leaders Awards.
Design in the Age of the Purposeful Company Liz Possee Corthell, Experience Strategist, Mad*Pow
Refocusing a business on social impact leads to innovation for product and services, and positive changes to their corporate culture. An organization can use Futures Thinking to envision a purpose-driven company by defining
the preferable future for the organization, and then back-casting from that future to today to make that future a reality. In this session, Liz Possee Corthell- Experience Strategist with the innovation consulting firm Mad*Pow will
discuss how today’s companies can use Futures Thinking to transform themselves into purpose-driven organizations. She’ll go through the steps that help organizations define their preferred future, and introduce the Mad*Pow Futures
Landscape Tool that helps organizations determine where they sit today, and where they want to be tomorrow.
Design Thinking for Organizational Change Hal Wuertz, Associate Creative Director and Design Researcher for the IBM software portfolio, AI Applications Sarah B. Nelson, Sr. Director, Design Thinking Adoption at PepsiCo (former IBM, Director of Sales and Design Strategy)
In 2017, the IBM Design Program Office (DPO) faced a pivotal moment. After five years of change and 150,000 IBMers trained in the fundamentals of Design Thinking, there remained one stalwart hold out: Sales. Wrapped up in quarterly
cycles and nonplussed by internal change initiatives, Sales remained mostly untouched by the design program. Design research probes revealed that while every other part of the business—from HR to the CEO’s office—had adopted design
thinking techniques, most sellers couldn't even define design thinking. The lack of adoption in Sales was distressing and painfully ironic—because Sales had the potential to be the most powerful part of IBM's design transformation
story. Our experience had shown that when client engagements were led with design thinking, they were the most enduring, most lucrative, and highest client-rated experiences we delivered.
Hear Hal Wuertz and Sarah Nelson as they share how the DPO set about using Design Thinking and all the transformation know-how they had, to crack the nut of how to bring design thinking to this unusual audience.
Designing for Life Moments Dan Makoski, Chief Design Officer, Group Transformation, Lloyds Banking Group
Our mission of Designing for Prosperity requires a recognition that money is an enabler to people’s lives. So how do you design for life? Hear Lloyds Banking Group Chief Design Officer share the team’s latest thinking and strategy about
how to design for this thing called life, and how this might just change how we design everything.
How Design Can Help Manufacturers Become a ‘Product as a Service’ Company Jaime Moreno, Founder and CEO of Mormedi
Making things and selling them to customers in a single transaction is a risky business model. Manufacturers face a turning point in order to survive in this 4th industrial revolution. Becoming an ‘as a service’ company is vital.
The only way to get there is by using Design tools to rethink overall business models and processes. Jaime Moreno, CEO and Founder of the global strategic design and innovation consultancy, Mormedi will discuss the role of Design as
a catalyst to shifting to an “as a service” company.
Earning Your Seat at The Table Jordan Hopson, Senior Design Strategist, BCGDV
Beyond the pixel pushing and researching, every designer aims to be a decision maker. I’ll share reflections from my experience helping launch MLT Black Equity at Work to help you earn your seat at the table. MLT Black Equity
at Work is the first Black equity certification program for Fortune 1000 organizations. Jordan Hopson is a Senior Design Strategist at Boston Consulting Group Digital Ventures. With over eight years of experience, he specializes
in building cohesive and empathetic product experiences. When he’s not in a pandemic, he enjoys traveling and live music events.
What's Missing in Your Innovation Data? Joeffrey Trimmingham, Co-founder, Lead Consultant, Philip Reese
Industry is increasingly reliant on big data and analytics—especially behavioral data—to understand consumers and drive innovation. However, despite these massive piles of data, we've repeatedly seen clients invest in products
that don't hit the mark with their customers. If 95% of products fail, how do you develop a track-record that outpaces your competition? Joeffrey Trimmingham, Co-founder and Lead Consultant at Philip Reese, a boutique research and
insights company that has delivered innovation-driving insights for many top brands, will talk about research in the design process and how it can boost both design/ development speed and alignment to real consumer needs. He'll share
two case studies that illustrate how our customers have benefited from the deep research and insights the firm conducted.
Designing a Culture of Top Talent in a Pandemic World Alice Sesay Pope, SVP, Global Head of Contact Centers, Visa, Inc.
The pandemic has required leaders to rethink their business continuity plans and at the same time, create a resilient work culture. Demand for top talent is competitive, retention is key, organizations seek a diverse workforce,
and new terms of employment will require a deliberate remote-work approach. In this session Alice Sesay Pope, a strategic leader experienced in large-scale Customer Experience transformations, will share an Agile approach to rethinking
people, processes, and technology strategy to design a culture of top talent.

About Silke Bochat Earlier in her career, Ms Bochat left her work as a Designer at an agency to become a Design Manager. The jump created a lot of challenges – all at once. Without much mentoring or guidance, she
struggled and made mistakes. It taught her a lesson. Since 2011 she has focused on Design Leadership and what it takes to truly drive impact in organizations through Design. She developed instruments and frameworks
outside of the practice and applied them in the practice building real world knowledge by experience. She is a seasoned leader with a proven record of implementing Design functions at Beiersdorf, PepsiCo, and Colgate. A sought after
speaker who has been on several global award-winning teams, Bochat is a true believer that if we want Design
to impact our world, we need to share our experience and the wisdom
we’ve gained for the benefit of future leaders. 100% of this Workshop fee goes to support the DMI as a community - with a mission to unite Design leaders from different companies to collaborate, network and share experiences.
