A Common Future

 Lee Maschmeyer, Creative Director, COLLINS

Most scenarios of 2050 are dystopian. Nuclear-annihilation. Global famine. Zombie apocalypse. While we are rich with explanations from experts as to why society will end, what we lack are stories. `Civilizations rise from stories and nothing else. That is why a society is only as strong the story it tells itself. This talk will not offer facts to existing explanations but present a story that gives a new pattern to existing facts. The hope is to inspire a return from explaining to dreaming, from a bounded way of looking at the world to a horizontal way of seeing the future. (From DMI Design Thinking Conference/Santa Monica / designing the next economy)
