The Volvo Group’s vision is to become the world’s leader in sustainable transport solutions. To support that vision, the Volvo Group - Buses Division in Latin America sought to communicate their position as a pioneer provider in public transportation. Lasting and sustainable transport solutions have to take into account a complex system of stakeholders that include passengers, operators, infrastructure providers, government authorities and entrepreneurs. A common understanding of the complex landscape is a critical element in engaging all stakeholders in a solution.


Volvo Latin America turned to Brazilian brand and communications agency Commcepta Design to enhance the identity of the brand as a pioneer, and strengthen Volvo’s connection with the concept of sustainable urban development as a forward looking brand. By making complex concepts simple, the projects connect Volvo's transport solutions with stakeholders in cities across Latin America.


The team worked to consolidate information on the urban mobility innovations developed over the last 40 years by Volvo Group - Buses Division in Latin America. The portfolio of innovations were consolidated in the Guide Mobilidade Inteligente (Smart Mobility Guide) as part of the Programa Volvo Mobilidade (Volvo Mobility Program) - or PMV. Workshop materials were designed and events hosted in more than 30 cities last year in Brazil.

  • Volvo reported an increase of more than 35% in business promotion of high-capacity vehicles for public transportation with authorities and transport operators.
  • The sales cycle in public transportation planning is long and depends on a long-term reputation building. The PMV initiative is helping to boost market response in the short, mid and long-term.
  • PMV and the Mobility Guide shift Volvo’s approach from product-driven to a more collaborative solution, working together with cities' transit authorities and transport operators. Now, Volvo is able to provide broader and more complete solutions to meet all stakeholder’s demands instead of responding to price comparison in the end of the urban planning cycle.

The team created long term value. Clear stakeholder communication about the advantages of sustainable transport solutions helps authorities adopt better solutions, demonstrate economic viability, and help passengers understand the connection between commuting, environmental impact, health, and quality of life.
