Xavier University made the news when students from the Center for Innovation successfully created a 3D printed prosthetic leg for Tiny, a golden retriever service dog that was born missing part of a front leg. Through the guidance of professors at Xavier University and an expert in prosthetics, students used Human Centered Design methodologies and Batterii to understand and capture research and observations to better understand the problem. Tom Merrill, the Director of the Center for Innovation at Xavier University, will talk through Xavier's approach to Human Centered Design and how students learn to combine Human Centered Design with technology in the Human Centered Making major and the Innovation minor. Kevin Cummins, CEO of Batterii, will discuss the partnership with Xavier University and Batterii's approach to Human Centered Design.
