Interactive Breakout Sessions

Designers have a bias towards action. Interactive sessions at the Design Management Conference are meant to get you out of your chair and into small group collaborations. You'll meet new people, and work with new tools, new frameworks and in new ways to solve a challenge, discuss an issue, or dig into a "wicked problem."

Design Value System Workshop Intensive

It can be a challenge to communicate a clear and complete picture of what contributions design makes in an organization. To help solve the challenge, DMI developed a system of universal tools and frameworks called The dmi:Design Value System (DVS). This workshop will help you customize the DVS tools to measure and communicate the impact of design in your organization, map your team's current capabilities, chart future contributions and create a customized development plan for elevating the role of design and managing future growth. Workshop Fee:
Members: $950
Non-Members: $1100

Venue & Location

Conference Location (ARIA)

Aria is one of the most distinctive structures in the Minneapolis Warehouse Historic District, and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It was built in 1889 by Edward Stebbins and was originally known as the Realty Warehouse Company building. Noted architect Cass Gilbert, who designed the Minnesota state capitol, remodeled the building in 1902. From 1992 to 2008, the building was home to the Theatre de la Jeune Lune, the celebrated company known for its rich and innovative style of theater. Learn More

Aria does not offer hotel accommodations. DMI has secured a small conference block of guest rooms at the Renaissance Minneapolis Hotel, The Depot. Reservations must be received on or before Thursday, August 31, 2017 to qualify for the discounted group rate. All conference participants are responsible for their own hotel arrangements and transportation to and from the venue. Please make your reservations early. Learn More

A quick scan of the attendees at any of our recent conferences will reveal why DMI events are renowned as much for the audience as for the presenters. Attendees represent movers and shakers with substantial budget authority. Sponsors are able to reach our audience with pre-event marketing and effective exposure during and after events. DMI offers a variety of conference sponsorship options to fit different budgets.
