2016 DMI Conferences

Conference Venue

De Nieuwe Liefde
Amsterdam, The Netherlands

www.denieuweliefde.com

Why Amsterdam? Creativity thrives on the inspiring buzz that seems to manifest throughout the city. There’s no shortage of innovation, entrepreneurship, sheer beauty, and of course, design in this central hub. We find inspiration in Piet Mondrian and the De Stijl artistic movement founded in the early 20th century in Amsterdam. With it’s emphasis on constraint, tension, simplicity, optimism, construction, and support, it’s an apt metaphor for design in the modern era

DMC16 will take place at De Nieuwe Liefde (‘The New Love’) in the quiet Oud-West/Jordaan District. A theatre and community centre on Amsterdam’s Da Costakade, it was originally constructed in 1904 as storage space for a local wine company-a fitting location for a DMI conference!

We’ve purposefully located the conference outside the busy center of Amsterdam, in Oud-West a classic Amsterdam neighbourhood. You’ll feel like a local in Oud-West and get to know the city in an authentic way. Enjoy the serenity of of the surroundings, but it’s a just short stroll to the bustling Museum District and hip Jordaan area.

Hotels

Hotel suggestions

There are many hotels and options in Amsterdam to suit tastes, budgets and location preferences – ranging from basic to luxury to cutting-edge design, and, of course plenty of airbnb. We suggest you review hotel websites and hotel search engines (www.booking.com, www.hotels.com, www.airbnb.com, etc.) for best rates and www.tripadvisor.com for reviews.

De Nieuwe Liefde does not offer hotel accommodations, but here a list that provides some options within a 5-20 minute walk to DNL. There are also plenty of options near Centraal Train Station. All conference participants are responsible for their own hotel arrangements and transportation to/from the venue. Please make your reservations EARLY.
