Session Description:

 

The limiting argument of cost unfortunately still dominates design decisions for most traditional corporations. This leaves the customers and the ecology silently making up the difference. With such powerful information at our fingertips, more holistic decision making is easier than ever and can be integrated early into the design process or existing development practices.

Designworks will present its process model and proprietary tools which together infuse objective argumentation into the creative process. The benefit of making properly informed decisions is higher value, lower cost, lower eco-impact solutions.

 

BIOGRAPHY:

Peter’s overall responsibility at Designworks, a leading creative agency and subsidiary of the BMW Group, is to deliver unique solutions combining informed strategy, digital and physical design, and synergistic alliances. He does this by utilizing the Group’s vast resources to create new business, brand, or benevolent opportunities. Peter leads responsibility for the economic, social, and ecological consequences of their work, considering impact from manufacture through use state, and improved end of product life scenarios. Infusing triple bottom line criteria in the conceptual stage of development allows faster and more informed decision making through objective data.

 
Exemplary of Designworks’ cross fertilization, Peter has been instrumental in creating successful solutions for Fortune 100 companies, disruptive start-ups, the US Olympics, and non-profits such as the Green Parking Council.

 
Holding a BFA in Industrial Design with an emphasis on human factors and behavior, Peter has a history of sustainable design understanding demonstrated through water and energy interplay, low-cost / high impact solutions achieved through integrated material intelligence, and social innovation programs. With published work in Victor Papanek’s The Green Imperative, and a recipient of design accolades, Peter is passionate about aligning stringent business objectives with design, development, and communication services to reach tough goals.
