Scaling Innovation throughout Business—and the World:
The Ten Types of Innovation
Brian Quinn, Associate Partner, Doblin, Inc.; Ryan Pikkel, Design Strategist and Researcher, Doblin, Inc.
This video was originally presented at the 2011 "Design at Scale" conference in New York City. Find out more about this year's conference.

Back in 1998, Chicago-based innovation consultancy Doblin developed the Ten Types of Innovation. Since then, this deceptively simple framework has helped thousands of companies to think about their innovation activities in a new light, illuminating potential opportunities and framing useful ways to develop new ideas. Of course, a lot has changed in the past 15 years. Brian Quinn and Ryan Pikkel present the all-new version of a tool you can use on each and every innovation and design challenge.

Recap: Leading Innovation through Design
DMI 2012 International Research Conference
In August, educators, students, and practitioners from all over the world gathered in Boston for a major international academic gathering. The event was DMI's most successful academic conference ever, with 80 papers presented during course of the two days. The international breadth of the participants was particularly impressive, with over 30 countries represented. The 1030-page proceedings will become a public reference for years to come; currently a draft version is available.
DMI thanks our host, MassArt, as well the National Endowment of the Arts for their generous support to the conference. And in particular, DMI thanks our indefatigable co-chairs for making the event a success: Erik Bohemia, Northumbria University; Jeanne Liedtka, Darden Business School; and Alison Rieple, Westminster Business School. Planning will commence soon for the follow-up event to be held in 2014.

DMI Night Out September
The boundaries of design: Exploring the outer limits.
The outer boundaries of design today may become the core competencies of tomorrow. In which directions must design firms grow to find value for clients, society, and themselves? How can clients and society inform these new directions? What is the "adjacent possible" of today, and the impossible but inevitable of tomorrow? Join us for a forward-looking and wide-ranging discussion of the evolving practice of design.

Webinar:
Innovation Therapy
Charles Bezerra, Executive Director, GAD'Innovation/Brazil
September 19, 2012, 1PM ET
Without being pessimistic, we, as individuals and society, have many critical problems to face. We become slaves of the technologies we create supposedly to make our lives easier. Most of what we call work is reduced to filling in templates and repetition. It looks as if the thinking we are using is the main source of our problems. We all have the potential for creativity but it looks like some sort of virus is blocking us to achieve meaningful creative transformations in our homes, organizations, and society. Therefore, we need treatment; we need to find an anti-virus.
This webinar is intended to start a deep conversation about all this. We will instigate ourselves to develop a less-fragmentary worldview, a new perspective that could help us to achieve the collaborative, creative, and optimistic levels we urgently need.
