Design that Pays

Vol. 20, No. 3, Summer 2009

Xčnia Viladās, Design Management Consultant

Small companies that have tended to neglect design in the past may now perceive it as an attractive tool for leveraging profits. Indeed, design seems to pop up nearly everywhere nowadays, once people start looking for it. However, smaller enterprises are often limited by ignorance of how to manage design, and uncertainty as to its actual payback. Xenia Viladas, a design management consultant and the author of Design That Pays, offers a structured, easy-to-follow model of integration, explained in management terms, with the intention of helping small businesses to bridge the design-business gap.
