Design Management Europe (DME) is an initiative that was begun in 2007 to heighten awareness and understanding of design management in European businesses, particularly SMEs. Besides presenting the annual DME Award, this organization has built an online presence that offers businesses information on design and design management workshops, conventions, and the like, as well as a self-assessment tool that companies can use to measure their use of design. And, for enterprises looking for stories of firms much like theirs that have succeeded in incorporating design, the DME website offers a "library" of case studies. The authors of this article were tasked with the challenge of putting together the DME library-no small job, considering it involved 19 partners in 12 countries. The result is something of a design travelogue.
