Vol. 4, No. 1, Design Management Journal 2008

This special issue of the Design Management Academic Journal focuses on the management of design in global environments. The papers in it were presented at the Managing Design in Global Environments Conference held in Seoul, South Korea, in November 2007. The conference theme was chosen because many issues having to do with the management of design in an increasingly globalized world bear more analysis and discussion. Globalization will affect design in various ways. This special issue touches upon a few, albeit important, areas affected by globalization. Future special issues will cover a wide range of emerging areas of the phenomenon, such as co-creation and the virtual design community.

The Design Management Journal is a refereed journal devoted to articles and case studies exploring how design is an essential resource, a component of every organization that can be effectively managed to make important contributions to the bottom line and to long-tem success.
