Work
Anthem Worldwide recently redesigned the packaging for Mike’s Hard Lemonade. Anthem helped craft a sense of authenticity, character, and individuality by evolving and focusing on key brand equity elements and differentiating it within its category.

PhilippeBecker redesigned T-Mobile’s myTouch G1 packaging.
 ATB Financial worked with Karo Group to completely reinvent banking at its three newest branches. This meant developing a branded experience to re-engage customers at every level of the retail banking experience, and attracting and retaining both employees and customers.
 LPK designed limited-edition, tennis-themed packaging for Pringles in the UK. This work was featured in the August 2009 edition of Brand Packaging, a monthly publication focused on the role of packaging in the consumer product marketing mix.

ThoughtForm created a visual checklist of the best places to find innovation based on a recent article in the Wall Street Journal.
P&G’s design process was featured in the Design News article, “Virtual Design Takes off at P&G.”

The winners of the 2009 International Design Excellence Awards (IDEA) competition were announced on July 29th by BusinessWeek, the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA), Target, and Autodesk. DMI members receiving IDEA Awards include: frog design (Gold, 2 Bronze), Crown Equipment Corporation (Gold), Altitude (Gold), Design Science (Gold), Continuum (Gold & Bronze), Dell (3 Silver, 2 Bronze), Microsoft (Silver), Smart Design (Silver), GE Healthcare (4 Silver, 1 Bronze), Steelcase (Silver), Art Center College of Design (1 Gold, 2 Silver, 3 Bronze), Philips Design (2 Bronze), Océ (Bronze), Teague (2 Bronze), BMW Group DesignWorksUSA (Bronze), Kohler (Bronze), Medela (Bronze), New Balance Athletic Shoe, Inc. (Bronze), and Astro Studios (2 Silver, 1 Bronze).
Smart Design, in partnership with UCB and OXO, recently won a red dot: communication design award for Cimzia packaging.

Design Flanders will host Open Days 2009 – Invitation, “European Design as an Expression of Creativity & Innovation,” October 6, 2009, in Brussels.
Stuart Karten from Stuart Karten Design will speak on Connecting Creativity with Commerce at A.N.T. Gallery in Venice, California on September 3, 2009.

Programs Pamela De Cesare of Sterling Brands and Dan Formosa of Smart Design were appointed to the faculty of the Masters of Professional Studies in Branding that will be offered at the School of Visual Arts (SVA), New York City, beginning in the fall of 2010. The new one-year advanced degree program focuses on the intellectual link between leadership and creativity.
