Designers are said to create the immediate future by inventing
new styles from what is “contemporary.” However, in
this fast-changing era of shorter product lifecycles, “contemporary”
is not enough: the future needs be integrated into the product design
process. An overall design philosophy that includes interaction
and information design can bring coherence to a company’s
offerings. Professor Kim will present Korean case histories to show
how the future can be created by integrating foresight methodology
into design approaches.
