Last year’s Re-Thinking … Design conference was a huge success for DMI and the Design community. Top thought leaders on Design Thinking generated deep, insightful conversations that moved the definition of the subject forward. Veteran attendees declared that it was one of the best, most stimulating DMI conferences ever.

Due to the demand created by last year’s success, we are doing it again … and this time, taking it up a level and also looking to the future. Returning are our influential co-chairs to host the event, Roger Martin, author of the acclaimed new book, The Design of Business: Why Design Thinking is the Next Competitive Advantage, and Darrel Rhea, well-known author and design opinion leader.

DMI’s Design/Management Thinking conversational-format conference will move beyond philosophical arguments on Design Thinking: it will grapple with the real changes in the expectations that all types of organizations are beginning to have about Design’s potential level of contribution—and the implications for you as a professional. What do you need to learn to take advantage of the shift in the definition of Design? What’s coming next? Bring your own questions and issues to the conversation and raise points what you find meaningful in this important discussion.

  Darrel Rhea

"The very definition of Design and the kinds of value it is delivering are evolving dramatically," states Darrel Rhea, conference co-chair & CEO of Cheskin Added Value. "Design Thinking addresses the challenges that organizations are now facing, and the failure of established business frameworks to drive sustainable growth. This conference is an exciting opportunity to see tangible examples of how the contemporary practice of design is changing, and learn how Design Managers can lead organizational strategy at a higher level."
