Design in a Technology-driven Environment Michael Laude, IDSA, Director of Design, Bose Corporation
The focus today is on the user-centered design model (study users, intuit their needs, create solutions to these needs, then seek technologies to enable those solutions), but Bose has become one of the strongest consumer electronic brands in the world by often doing what some might interpret as just the opposite—a research-led environment that invents breakthrough technologies, then finds market needs to match. The Design Center at Bose is positioned at the intersection of these two philosophies, and this environment has required the development of a different, hybrid approach to design. In this presentation, Michael Laude will discuss insights and perspectives gained in eleven years at the helm of product design at Bose.
