Designing for Cities

Carol Coletta, President and CEO of CEOs for Cities

Carol Coletta

Cities are resurgent for the first time in 50 years, thanks to the preferences of the young and restless for urban living, smart mayors who have improved quality of life indicators in their cities, new housing choices, and high gas prices.

With markets moving in the direction of cities, what do urban leaders have to worry about now? And how can designers contribute to the creation of smart cities with even more market appeal?

Carol Coletta, president and CEO of CEOs for Cities and host of the nationally syndicated public radio show, “Smart City,” will share the latest research on market trends at work in cities and how designers can make an important contribution to the success of cities.

We’ll talk in depth about two of the organization’s latest design research projects, Kids in Cities and Home. We’ll also take a look at a range of design solutions for urban challenges. Come prepared to participate in workshop style for a portion of the session.
