DESIGN KOREA is a biennial international exhibition organized by the Korea Institute of Design Promotion. It consists of an exhibition, conference, award and business presentations. With more than 120,000 visitors and buyer from around the globe, DESIGN KOREA has established itself as one of Asia’s utmost design events.
DESIGN KOREA 2009 International Conference will be held from December 3-4. On the first day of the conference, world renowned professionals will deliver speeches on “Designomics (Design + Economics).” On the second day, the conference is co-organized with the Design Management Institute (DMI). Under the theme of “Best of Class: Balance of Theory and Practice in Design Management,” presentations of studies selected from among submitted papers will be made. Selected papers from the conference will be published in a special issue of the Design Management Journal.
DESIGN KOREA 2009 International Conference will be an opportunity to encounter a new philosophy of design, to expand networks in the creative industry, and to exchange information among colleagues from around the globe. We look forward to your participation.

Paper Submission Guidelines and Form
Abstract submission due by August 31st

Keynote Speakers:
Bruce Nussbaum
Bruce Nussbaum is a Contributing Editor for BusinessWeek. He also actively devotes himself to on and off-line publications, and is a Professor of Innovation and Design at Parsons New School of Design. In 2005, I.D. magazine named Mr.
Nussbaum as one of the forty most influential people in design.
Thomas Lockwood
Thomas Lockwood is the president and member of the Board of Directors of the Design Management Institute (DMI). He is also the co-editor of Building Design Strategy and Corporate Creativity and a visiting professor in the graduate school of Pratt Institute in New York City.
Rachel Cooper
Rachel Cooper is a Professor of Design at the University of Lancaster, where she is also the Director of Lancaster Institute for the Contemporary Arts and Imagination Lancaster. She was the first women in the UK to receive a PhD in Design and was trained as a graphic designer. She has also worked in graphic, product and design management.
Chung Kyung-won
After graduating from Seoul National University, CHUNG Kyung-won received his Master and PhD from Syracuse University in USA and Metropolitan University in Manchester, UK. Appointed as Chief Design Officer & Deputy Mayor of the Seoul Metropolitan Government in May 2009, he will serve his term of office for two years.
