A pioneer in Design Management education, Peter is a Life Fellow of the Design Management Institute and a long time Fellow of the RSA, having served in a number of positions in the Society. Active with DMI for many years, he has served on its Board of Advisors, as an editorial advisor for the Design Management Journal, and as a conference speaker at DMI’s first European International Conference on Design Management in Amsterdam and the 22nd Annual Design Management Conference in Newport, RI, both in 1997.
At the suggestion of Bill Hannon (a Fellow of the RSA since 1990), the RSA student award for the category in “Design Management” was provided in Peter’s honor. All categories of the RSA Student Awards have myriad prizes offered by individuals and companies interested in the subject area. The Awards aim to bridge the gap between industry and education by awarding prizes aimed at developing the experience of individual students and enhancing their career prospects. Many former winners have gone on to head up some of the worlds leading design consultancies and in-house design teams.
