Let DMI be the canvas on which we underscore the power of design to engage people emotionally through our processes, our environments and our work.
I have difficult news to share.
The President of DMI, Michael Westcott passed away Saturday, October 4th after an abbreviated struggle with ALS, Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis.
Michael was a visionary thinker and a champion of the power of design to drive value, enrich lives, and tackle the most pressing social issues we face today. As he noted in his letter to the attendees of the DMI Leadership Conference in Boston September 30th, "At the core of innovation and entrepreneurship is a desire to build something new and to deliver in the form of a constantly evolving relationship with customers." In his own words, Michael has captured what he envisioned creating - a vibrant community that we all share. He will be sorely missed.
At the request of his family, the DMI has organized The Michael Westcott Design Education Fund, a memorial in Michael's honor. Go to this page to donate and to continue the work he championed with such vitality and passion.
